The Panama canal; a history and description of the enterprise J Saxon Mills Books

This book was originally published prior to 1923, and represents a reproduction of an important historical work, maintaining the same format as the original work. While some publishers have opted to apply OCR (optical character recognition) technology to the process, we believe this leads to sub-optimal results (frequent typographical errors, strange characters and confusing formatting) and does not adequately preserve the historical character of the original artifact. We believe this work is culturally important in its original archival form. While we strive to adequately clean and digitally enhance the original work, there are occasionally instances where imperfections such as blurred or missing pages, poor pictures or errant marks may have been introduced due to either the quality of the original work or the scanning process itself. Despite these occasional imperfections, we have brought it back into print as part of our ongoing global book preservation commitment, providing customers with access to the best possible historical reprints. We appreciate your understanding of these occasional imperfections, and sincerely hope you enjoy seeing the book in a format as close as possible to that intended by the original publisher.
The Panama canal; a history and description of the enterprise J Saxon Mills Books
This history of the Panama Canal is a very detailed discussion of the development of the canal dating back to the 1500's. I found it most interesting to learn about all the different countries and efforts and ideas that went into the creation of the Canal. The only thing I found lacking in the on-line version was the pictorial illustrations. They were listed in the table of contents, but I could not find them in the body of the book. I would like to have seen them.Product details

The Panama canal; a history and description of the enterprise J Saxon Mills Books Reviews
It starts out way to slow and goes back way too far in history. I can not recomend this book.
Great book. Only problem was the pictures and diagrams didn't come through, just the text. But the text was accurate and helpful.
While informative this report is limited to events prior to 1920. Even so much insight can be gained into the thinking of this era.
I ordered this book since I was planning a trip through the Canal. I found this book very informative on the early developments of the canal and the considerations of alternate routes, etc. This book does not go to present day ownership of the canal. I would recommend for anyone interested in the history until the canal was constructed.
ok
Looking for a book on history of Panama Canal. It was an older book, but was through as far as it went. Probably should have gotten something more recent for the information I wanted.
Great book. Answered most if my questions.
